The Dirt Dawgs offer internships for college students throughout the year.   If you are passionate about baseball and are interested in contributing to our upcoming season, we would like to hear from you.

Marketing & Community Relations Internship - Spring 2013

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all Spring 2013 off-season activities. This includes marketing, community relations and social media functions within the Leominster, Fitchburg and surrounding communities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs Spring 2013 internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended.

Duties Include

-Develop social media strategies for marketing and communicating news of offseason events and team news.

-Research potential community marketing and group sales partners.

-Support activities for marketing materials.

-Assistance with community fund-raising and promotional events.

-Assistance with the team website.

-Willing to work around class schedule, some nights and weekends might be required.

-Other duties assigned when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Full time College Student.

  • Team oriented, self-motivated, and responsible with leadership skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Good personal organization skills.

  • Knowledge of baseball rules and vocabulary.

  • Sport Management, Marketing, and Graphic Design majors would be helpful

Baseball Operations Internship - Summer 2013

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all pre-season and summer of 2013 season activities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs summer internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended. Internship runs from Mid-May to Mid-August.

 

Duties Include

  • Assist the Baseball Operations staff in all field preparation for home games, in-game activities, concessions, media, marketing, statistics, and post-game cleanup as needed

  • Working all 27 home games from early June to Early August

  • Other projects on non game days supporting marketing and operations activities

  • Broadcasting and in-game music

  • Stats and officials scorers training will be provided

  • Assistance with our social media websites

  • Assistance at community events

  • Other duties assigned when necessary

Requirements:

  • Work a set schedule determined at the beginning of the internship, including all home games

  • Full time college student

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable car

  • Good organizational skills and multitasking abilities

  • Detail oriented

  • Prior experience with game/event operations

  • Good written communication skills

  • Experience with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

  • Knowledge and passion for baseball

  • Must be pursuing a degree in sport management/marketing or related field and receive partial academic credit

Compensation:

Unpaid; $500 Contribution for Fall Term

Media and Public Relations Internship - Summer 2013

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all pre-season and summer of 2013 season activities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs summer internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended. Internship runs from Mid-May to Mid-August.

 

Duties Include

  • Pre-season activities will include work on “Outside the Dawg House” and other media projects

  • In-season activities will also include work on “Outside the Dawg House”

  • During each of the 27 home games schedule between early June and early August, the main duties will include taking pictures and video

  • Post-game duties can include post-game write ups (completed within an hour after the game) and editing

  • Assist Baseball Operations staff when needed

  • Other projects on non game days supporting marketing and operations activities

  • Other duties assigned when necessary

Requirements:

  • Work a set schedule determined at the beginning of the internship, including all home games

  • Full time college student

  • Experience/prior internship in sports media and public relations activities preferred

  • Experience with video operations or photography

  • Good written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of baseball

  • Experience with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

  • Good organizational skills and multitasking abilities

  • Personable with high energy

  • Detail oriented

  • Good, clear verbal skills and tone

Compensation:
Unpaid; $500 Tuition contribution for Fall term.

Ticket and Merchandise Internship - Summer 2013

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all pre-season and summer of 2013 season activities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs summer internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended. Internship runs from Mid-May to Mid-August.

 

Duties Include

  • Pre-season activities will include inventory control for all merchandise, ticket fulfillment, and other marketing information.

  • Setting up and taking down merchandise and ticket tables at all 27 homes games

  • Working merchandise and ticket tables for all 27 home games

  • Helping out ticket and merchandise volunteers

  • Doing an audit every day of merchandise and tickets sold

  • Assist baseball operations staff in all field preparation for home games, in-game activities, concessions, media, marketing, statistics, and post game clean up as needed

  • Projects on non game days could include inventory or other activities supporting marketing and operations

  • Other duties assigned when necessary

Requirements:

Food and Beverage Internship - Summer 2013

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all pre-season and summer of 2013 season activities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs summer internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended. Internship runs from Mid-May to Mid-August.

 

Duties Include

  • Pre-season activities will include inventory of product and sufficient purchasing and storage of food and beverage

  • Preparation of all food and beverage for the games, including players beverages, before all 27 home games

  • Making sure there is enough inventory at the field to last the entire game

  • Helping out food and beverage volunteers

  • Audit after each game with inventory of food and beverage

  • Assist baseball operations staff in all field preparation for home games, in-game activities, concessions, media, marketing, statistics, and post game clean up as needed

  • Projects on non game days could include inventory or other activities supporting marketing and operations

  • Other duties assigned when necessary
