The Dirt Dawgs offer internships for college students throughout the year.   If you are passionate about baseball and are interested in contributing to our upcoming season, we would like to hear from you.

Baseball Operations Internship - Summer 2014

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all pre-season and summer of 2014 season activities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs summer internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended. Internship runs from Mid-May to Mid-August.

 

Guest speakers from various local businesses will be invited in to speak to help all students enrolled in our Summer 2014 internship to gain experience in various areas, including, but not limited to, sales and marketing.

 

Duties Include

  • Preseason and in-season activities on game days and non-game days can include, but are not limited to, group sales, sponsorship sales, inventory control for merchandise, inventory control for food and beverage, purchasing and storing of food and beverage, ticket fulfillment, marketing activities, mascot duties, assisting at community events, assisting with social media websites, working on our TV show “Outside the Dawg House,” media projects, and other tasks as assigned

  • Assist in all field preparation for home games, including, but not limited to, set up for in-game activities, concessions, media, marketing, merchandise, field work, players supplies, and ticket booths

  • Assist in all aspects of a game including, but not limited to, playing music, keeping the games statistics, on-field announcer, mascot duties, merchandise, concessions, beer tent, tickets, photography, videography, social media updates, write-ups, and field work

  • Assist in all end of game activities for home games, including, but not limited to, post-game write-up, break down of all tables and tents used, merchandise, ticket booths, dug outs, and trash

  • Daily audits for merchandise sales, ticket sales, and food and beverage sales

  • Working all 27 home games from early June to early August

  • Other duties assigned when necessary

 

Requirements:

  • Work a set schedule determined at the beginning of the internship, including all home games

  • Full time college student

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable car

  • Good organizational skills and multitasking abilities

  • Detail oriented

  • Prior experience with game/event operations, ticketing, merchandise, sports media, public relations or concessions is preferred

  • Experience with video production and/or photography a plus

  • Experience with Pointstreak software a plus

  • Good written communication skills

  • Experience with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

  • Knowledge and passion for baseball

  • Personable with high energy

 

Compensation:

Unpaid; $500 Contribution for Fall Term

Marketing & Community Relations Internship - Fall 2014

Overview

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). This internship opportunity will support all Fall 2014 off-season activities. This includes marketing, community relations and social media functions within the Leominster, Fitchburg and surrounding communities. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs Fall 2014 internship is an unpaid internship, however doing the internship for credit is strongly recommended.

Duties Include

-Develop social media strategies for marketing and communicating news of offseason events and team news.

-Research potential community marketing and group sales partners.

-Support activities for marketing materials.

-Assistance with community fund-raising and promotional events.

-Assistance with the team website.

-Willing to work around class schedule, some nights and weekends might be required.

-Other duties assigned when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Full time College Student.

  • Team oriented, self-motivated, and responsible with leadership skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Good personal organization skills.

  • Knowledge of baseball rules and vocabulary.

  • Sport Management, Marketing, and Graphic Design majors would be helpful
